A driver from South Staffordshire who admitted causing the death of a motorcyclist on a country road has been banned from driving for a year and ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work.

Andrew Clowes, from Perton, died after a crash involving his Kawasaki motorbike and David Cox's BMW 4x4 on the B4176 at Danford, Claverley.

Ex-Codsall High School pupil Andrew, a self-employed builder, had been on his way home from Penn when tragedy struck. Cox admitted causing the death of 25-year-old Mr Clowes by driving his BMW without due care and attention on June 19 last year.

Andrew lived with his parents David and Pat in Levington Close, Perton.

Ms Samantha Crabb, prosecuting at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, said: "As Mr Cox approached the junction he braked and indicated right then slowed to a virtual stop. Mr

Clowes approached the junction on his motorcycle in the opposite direction."

"It is beyond doubt that as Mr Clowes approached he would have been visible to Mr Cox, had he looked with sufficient care," Ms Crabb added.

Cox, aged 43, of Post Office Road, Seisdon, was given 30 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, as well as a ban and work order. Mr Simon Davis, for Cox, said he was phenomenally sorry.
