Now pool is cut off from outside world

Letters: Considering there are council cutbacks, my thoughts are: "If you don't like being seen swimming, don't do it.

In response to Mrs Pauline Poole's letter, I should also like to complain about the installation of opaque windows at Darlaston Swimming Baths.

I have been a regular swimmer there for years and one of the attractive features of the baths, in addition to the pleasant and helpful staff, is the view of the trees while swimming. I now feel I am cut off from the world outside - like being in prison! I am not aware of any consultation with regular users of the baths before this action was taken.

I notice that security cameras installed in Birmingham have been covered up while residents are consulted. Swimmers at Darlaston Baths should be afforded the same privilege.

Mrs Patricia Oakley,

Lake Avenue, Walsall.

Here we go again, the Muslim minority, over-ruling the majority. Cllr Anthony Harris is alienating the people of Darlo.

If I wanted to swim in the dark, I would go at night. Remember the above name when the local elections come round.

Things are getting crazy. Darlaston Swimming Baths has had 250 windows blacked out to "protect" Muslim women.

Hundreds of CCTV cameras are to be removed in Birmingham because they "offend" the Muslim community. But we need cameras in the fight against terrorism. What next? Where will it all end? Who's running the country?

What is Cllr Harris talking about when he says he is "pleased to have made modifications to the windows" at Darlaston Leisure Centre?

Considering there are council cutbacks, I — and many others I am sure — am disgusted at this move as my thoughts are: "If you don't like being seen swimming, don't do it."

What will they require next? Other swimmers to be banned on the days they are swimming? Separate showers, separate Coke machines, entrances etc? What do they think makes them so different to other swimmers?

John Davies, Heronville Road, West Bromwich.
