Couple hit a pair of holes-in-one
When grandmother Margaret Wakeman hit a hole-in-one, husband Ken was 'green' with envy - until he repeated the feat on the same hole just four days later.
When grandmother Margaret Wakeman hit a hole-in-one, husband Ken was 'green' with envy - until he repeated the feat on the same hole just four days later.
The couple both bagged aces at the 16th hole at Penn Golf Club.
In their combined 60 years of playing, the couple of Greenleighs, Sedgley, had only ever got one previous hole-in-one between them.
Mr Wakeman, a 69-year-old retired health and safety manager, said: "I couldn't let the wife take all the glory.
"I was thrilled to bits for Margaret. I was almost happier than she was. I was scoring further down the course and I was delighted - although maybe a little jealous." But he had no reason to be because four days later, he matched the shot with his very own at the par three.
He said: "I didn't actually see it go in because I'd bent down to pick up my tee but my partners started shouting me, telling me, and I couldn't believe it."
Mrs Wakeman, a retired telephonist, aged 67, added: "It's just a bizarre coincidence.
"It was a lovely feeling to get one and we both just started laughing when he told me he'd done the same."
