Radio One DJ Chris Moyles put Wolverhampton on the map today - with his own song in tribute to the city.
The presenter, who is famous for his parodies, changed the words of Katy Perry's current chart hit California Gurls to Wolverhampton Gurls.
Low Hill, the Midlands Metro and Lichfield all got a mention in the breakfast DJ's cheeky song parody which aired twice before 10am today.
And he has clearly done his homework, with references to the city's claim to fame of having Britain's first traffic lights and the famous Beatties store.
The song's chorus was changed from "California girls we're unforgettable" to "Wolverhampton girls, we're unforgettable, hanging round at the bus stop."
It continues: "Wolverhampton girls we ride the Metro, fast and smooth we ride it non-stop."
The tongue-in-cheek song also says the West Midlands is a great place to shop and adds "You can go to Lichfield but there's nothing there."
Moyles even delivers a rap about the city.
The song has received rave reviews from fans of the popular breakfast show — and has been all the talk of passengers travelling to work this morning on the Metro.
Wolverhampton-born TV presenter Suzi Perry said: "I'd like to say a big thank you to Chris Moyles for putting Wolverhampton back on the map, even if it was a bit tongue in cheek.
"I'm very proud of my home town and I think the song could even get to the top of the charts if he decided to release it."
Metro workers were stunned to find they were included in the song.
Bryan Bannister, communications manager at Midland Metro, said: "It's been quite a bizarre morning.
"Staff members started to receive texts saying 'you're on the radio' and customers were serenading staff at tram stops."
He added: "We think the song is great and our very own 'Wolverhampton Girls' in the office have been singing along.
"And if Chris Moyles ever fancies a trip on the Metro, we'd be delighted to take him for a spin."
Scores of people logged on to social networking site Twitter to make their comments on the song parody. One fan tweeted: "Wolverhampton girls rocked, love it." Another added:
"Who needs California when you've got Wolverhampton?"
Moyles has become well-known for his song parodies on the breakfast show he has overseen during the past few years, and has even released an album of them. Tracks include I
Predict a Diet - a play on the Kaiser Chiefs' I Predict and Riot — and The Boy Does Plenty, which is a reference to Alesha Dixon's big comeback hit.
Leigh White, tourism officer for Wolvehampton City Council, said: "We've heard the lyrics from Chris's parody this morning and are really impressed by the detail and the knowledge of our city.
"I think it's only fair we invite Mr Moyles to Wolverhampton to experience how accurate he is. I'm sure many a 'Wolverhampton Gurl' would be happy to take Chris on a tour of the city."
