Ladies getting lessons in birdies

Ladies are taking a shot at golf thanks to new lessons being held at a South Staffordshire course.

Three Hammers Golf Complex in Coven hold the classes on Wednesday mornings where women can enjoy a coffee and golf-focussed quiz before heading onto the green.

The group is led by PGA golf professional George Boden who says they are looking for more ladies to take up the sport.

"There are a number of things which hold ladies back when it comes to golf," he says.

"One of those is that most of the famous golfers are men, and also there is an old-fashioned view associated with women taking up this sport.

"However, we have moved away from that now and it is great to see ladies getting together to enjoy a round or two of golf."

The session costs £7.50 and takes place from 10am to 12pm on Wednesdays. For more information contact the Three Hammers on 01902 790428.
