MPs are being asked to back a family's fight to free a Black Country man accused of murdering his girlfriend in Crete.

The father of Luke Walker, aged 22, said he was calling for politicians including his own MP Margot James, to lobby the Greek authorities.

Walker, of Brierley Hill, is in a Greek prison charged with murdering his girlfriend Chelsea Hyndman, aged 21.

Support from friends and family in England has gathered momentum, with more than 3,400 members belonging to a Facebook site protesting his innocence. And childhood friend

Jenni Bradbury, aged 20, has designed "Free Luke Walker" posters.

Walker denies beating Miss Hyndman and claims she was injured when she fell heavily during a girls' night out.

His father Patrick said: "If they just released him on bail so he can be with family instead of strangers, it would be progress."

Margot James said she had been in contact with Foreign Office minister Jeremy Brown, to stress the "urgency" of the case.

"What I really want for him to do is to stress to his colleagues in Greece the importance and the urgency of the case," she said.
