A Hednesford shopkeeper is organising a series of charity slot car racing events.

Alan Bilbie started his business Best Bargain Models in East Cannock Road in September last year, and is already helping the Midlands Air Ambulance and St Giles Hospice at Whittington by donating five per cent from the sale of all stock to them.

Customers chose which of the charities they want to help.

Alan, aged 39, of Norton Canes, was hoping to hold the racing night for St Giles at their furniture store in Stafford and run lads and dads racing nights over five weeks at Jerome Primary School in Norton Canes to aid school funds.

Alan ran a market stall selling models in Rugeley Market for several years before opening the shop specialising in model railway items from N gauge upwards, plastic kits and figures, diecast models, Scalextric and radio-controlled models.
