This is the first glimpse of the new-look Cannock Chase leisure centre which is set to be transformed as part of an ambitious £7m redevelopment.

Design blueprints and artists' impressions will be available to view for the first time at Chase Leisure Centre all next week, from Monday May 17 to Friday May 21.

Council officers will be on hand from 3.30pm until 8.30pm on Wednesday, May 19, to answer questions and a questionnaire can be completed to air views.

The project, which will see Cannock lose its swimming pool for around a year, will see the 35-year-old centre transformed. A new six-lane pool will be built, along with a new 150-station gym and fitness suite. Spectator seating will increase by 60 to 230.

National statistics show that residents in Cannock Chase are more likely to die early from heart disease but council chiefs hope the leisure centre will tempt more residents to the gym.
