A teenager was killed and four others injured following a two-car crash at an accident blackspot in Staffordshire.

The 18-year-old from Stafford was a front seat passenger. She died in the collision on the A518 Newport Road, outside Swan Pit Boarding Kennels, near Gnosall, on Saturday night.

The driver of the blue Rover 414, a 21-year-old man, from Penkridge, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after the incident at 7.20pm.

Two other female passengers, believed to be in their late teens, were injured. One had leg injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

The other suffered leg and hip injuries and was taken to Stafford Hospital.

A man, 49 and believed to be from Church Eaton, who was driving a black Ford S- Max car, was treated for a shoulder injury.

An air ambulance went to the scene but wasn't able to transport the injured to hospital due to severe weather conditions.
