Conservative big hitter Kenneth Clarke was in Stafford today to launch the Tory party's General Election campaign in the town.

The Shadow Business Secretary was due to meet with Tory candidate Jeremy Lefroy at the Stafford constituency office on Castle Street.

Speaking ahead of the visit Mr Lefroy said: "I am ready and looking forward to this contest in Stafford, Penkridge and the surrounding villages and what better way to get it off to a rousing start than with Ken Clarke rallying our volunteers. I am also proud that Stafford is the first stop for him."
