A tragic Black Country brewery boss will be remembered on West Bromwich Albion's team shirts.

Black Country brewery Bathams will have its logo emblazoned on the blue and white striped jerseys of the club for its Championship game against Preston North End this weekend.

The shirts will be auctioned off to raise money in memory of Daniel Arthur Batham.

Proceeds from the sale will be going to national charity Cancer Research.

The Baggies recently began a match-by-match sponsorship scheme with businesses and charity appeals

.Among those which have taken part this season are Disasters Emergency Committee's Haiti Appeal and a series of betting firms.Bathams director Matthew Batham said: "We are over the moon that we are supporting such a great team for such a great match."

The brewery, founded by Mr Batham's grandfather, Daniel Batham Senior, in 1882, has its headquarters at The Vine Inn, Delph Road, Brierley Hill, also known as the Bull and Bladder.

It has seven Black Country pubs, one in Kinver, two near Kidderminster, and one in Wales.

Matthew Batham's father, 82-year-old Mr Batham, known as Arthur, had been suffering from cancer when he shot himself in January.

An inquest heard Mr Batham's wife Dorothy found his body in the garage of their home in Bridgnorth Road, Wollaston, Stourbridge.

He had shot himself through the chest and a gun was found lying near his body.

Mr Batham had been diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer in November and was being fed through a tube to his stomach at the time of his death.

Dudley Coroner's Court heard Mr Batham, a former firearms collector, disposed of most weapons apart from a Colt US military handgun he used to take his life.
