A poker champion from Kidderminster who is wanted in America on suspicion of murdering his wife will learn if he is to be extradited next month.
Marcus Bebb-Jones, aged 46, was arrested at his home in Merton Close. The US Government wants to extradite Bebb-Jones over allegations he killed his wife Sabrina in 1997 before dumping her body in a national park. He later shot himself in the head but failed to kill himself.
The former hotelier appeared before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court for a full extradition hearing yesterday. District Judge Howard Riddle will give his ruling on April 12 after considering the evidence.
Mr Aaron Watkins, for the US Government, told the court: "The facts set out demonstrate pre-meditation and a sustained attempt to conceal the offence after its commission."
Mr Ben Cooper, for Bebb-Jones, said extradition would "create a mockery of justice" and violate his client's human rights.
If convicted in Colorado, Bebb-Jones would be jailed for life and would very likely die behind bars, the court heard.
