Two choirs based at a Wolverhampton church are appealing for donations to help pay for a singing tour in the summer.

Around 50 youngsters from the girls and boys choirs at St Peter's Collegiate Church will spend a week at cathedrals in Chichester and Rochester in August.

But they still need £6,000 to help pay for accommodation when the girls and boys get there.

The choir's director of music, Peter Morris, told of how the singing tour was a long held tradition that had been going for around 30 years.

He said: "The boys and girls love going to the cathedrals in the summer. It's something they look forward to all year. We have already raised about £10,000, but we still need more to fund the trip."

The boys choir was formed around 600 years ago, while the girls group has been going for 11 years.

Anyone interested in donating should contact Mr Morris on 01902 822857.
