A brave 10-year-old girl from Lichfield who suffers from kidney cancer had her lifetime's dream fulfilled when she travelled in a pink limousine and went shopping in London.

Rebecca Woods was diagnosed with cancer in October 2008 after her mother spotted unusual swelling and bruising on her side.

The Charnwood Primary School pupil put on a brave face and always remained positive and is in remission.

As she loves singing and dancing and going to school Rebecca's parents wanted her to have something to look forward to and contacted Starlight Children's Foundation in London to see if they could grant Rebecca a wish.

Starlight immediately set about making her wish for a shopping spree at Harrods and Toys R Us come true.

On February 15 Rebecca was whisked to a London hotel with her mum, dad and sister Rachel.

They were picked up from their hotel in the centre of London in a pink limo. First stop was Harrods and the family were shown round all the halls. Next stop was Toys R Us where Rebecca was given £600 worth of goodies including a perfume-making lab and an ice-cream maker.

After an exciting but exhausting day Starlight made sure the Woods family had a meal at the Rainforest Cafe in Leicester Square.

Rebecca's mum Allison said: "There were just so many highlights of the day.

"The ride in the pink limo is something she has always wanted to do, and something we could never have afforded to do for her. The tours were so magical and the toys will keep her entertained for years. We all had the most wonderful time."

Starlight spokesman Emily Yeomans said: "It was fantastic to see Rebecca's face light up when she was taken on the magical tours around Harrods and Toys R Us. She was so excited when she was choosing her toys.

"Seeing such a special experience first-hand really made me appreciate the difference our wishes make and how important they are to the families we help.

"This year Starlight is hoping to exceed the 500 wishes we granted last year so that even more brave children like Rebecca will see their dreams come true."
