The heartbroken family of a schoolboy who died suddenly at home have paid tribute to the "happy and fun-loving" youngster.

Jake Reynolds, of Olive Grove, Stourport, was found dead in his bedroom two weeks after his fifth birthday.

His grandmother Carol Warwick said the family, including his mother Nicola and father John, were devastated by the tragedy.

The bright youngster, who was a pupil at Stourport Primary School in Tan Lane, had shown no signs of illness before his death on February 6.

Mrs Warwick, of Gibbons Crescent, Stourport, said it had been a "terrible shock" to lose her grandson, an only child, at such a young age.

"Jake went to sleep and just never woke up. His mother found him in bed. She is absolutely heartbroken.

"Jake loved everything in life. He adored school, riding his bike and playing with his mountain of toys.

"He was a huge fan of Spiderman and loved watching all of the films. He also loved judo and went to a club in Kidderminster.

"He was just a lovely, bright and active boy, who loved life. He will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved him," she added.

Mrs Warwick said she wanted to thank all the well-wishers who had visited the family to offer their condolences since Jake's death.

No medical cause for Jake's death has yet been found and an inquest was opened at Stourport Coroners Court on February 11.

A horse drawn carriage will carry his coffin to St Michael's Church, Stourport for the funeral service at 9.30am on Friday.

A recording of his classmates singing hymns will be played during the service.
