A Kidderminster man was arrested on his 28th birthday after his celebrations left him threatening a barman with a knife, a court was told.
Police were called after Simon Buckley produced a lock knife and threatened a barman at the Angel in Severnside, Stourport, said prosecutor Miss Kerry Moreton.
His barrister, Miss Abigail Nixon, said alcohol was the root cause of all his difficulties and he claimed that he had never been sober when he was arrested.
Buckley, of Blount Terrace, Foley Park, was said to have three previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol. He admitted affray and having a bladed article in a public place and was jailed for eight months at Worcester Crown Court on Friday.
Miss Moreton said Buckley was in the Angel at 6.15pm on August 28 when he was in an argument with another customer.
Miss Nixon said Buckley accepted he was a binge drinker and could not remember going to Stourport on the day of the offences. He said his alcohol consumption has reduced substantially. Recorder Martin Butterworth made an order banning Buckley from entering the Angel for the next two years.
