A motorist arrested after a collision between her car and a pedestrian will not face any charges, police said today.

The 37-year-old was questioned on suspicion of careless driving after a 20-year-old-man from Bilston was struck by her Ford Ka as he crossed Birmingham New Road in Wolverhampton.

He was taken to New Cross Hospital with a broken lower leg and cut forehead.

The accident, which happened at the Parkfield Road junction, caused part of the road to be closed for two hours.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Aneka Anderson said today no further action was being taken against the driver.

She said: "Police investigating the incident have now released the woman without charge."

The collision happened on December 8 last year.
