More than 20 men were being hunted by detectives today after major trouble broke out between anti-islamic extremist and anti-fascist protesters in Birmingham.

Officers at West Midlands Police's Major Incident Unit have scoured hours of footage from cameras at the scenes of trouble to draft a list of suspects. They released images of some of those believed to have been involved in the trouble today.

The probe was launched after sporadic outbreaks of violence marred the two protests, which came as the English Defence League and United Against Facism, staged separate protests. The men are wanted for offences including violent disorder, serious assault and criminal damage in the New Street area during the protests on August 8 and September 5 last year.
