A body found at the roadside in Oldbury is believed to be that of missing pensioner Margaret Elliott, police said today.

Officers believe remains found in undergrowth near the M5 yesterday are those of 75-year-old Mrs Elliott, who has been missing for six months.

The Alzheimer's sufferer has not been seen since she went missing from her home in Barnford Crescent, Oldbury in the early hours of June 28.

Jaspreet Jagdev, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "Police can confirm that the body found on Demuth Way, Oldbury is that of a woman. One of the current lines of inquiry for the investigation is whether it is that of missing person Margaret Elliott."

Mrs Elliott's family have been told of the discovery.

The body was found by Gary Bruniges of Shropshire-based GES Solutions who was carrying out landscaping work near the Junction 2 Industrial Estate at 9.45am yesterday.
