A self-employed decorator from Stourbridge is today £28,500 richer after appearing on TV programme Deal or No Deal.
Adam Collett, aged 25, haggled with the banker to increase his offer of £26,000, saying he wouldn't deal until he met his target of £31,000 as that was what he needed to clear his debts.
The banker, who said Adam's tactics were 'bluster', then upped his offer to "meet him halfway".
After dealing, Adam admitted the banker had been right and he had lied about having a target to try and increase the offer.
After playing what Noel called a "perfect round", Adam walked away with the highest offer of the game, fending off several lower offers before dealing in round five.
This was despite the target £250,000 remaining in play until almost the very end.
Adam's own box, number five, only contained £15,000.
