A Staffordshire pub will be serving up a festive treat by offering a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings – for just £2.

Landlord Tony Rabbitts claims his three-course feast at The Four Crosses Inn, Watling Street, Cannock, is the cheapest pub Christmas lunch in the country.

The mouthwatering menu – which will be available only on December 23 – includes homemade minestrone soup to start, followed by a roast turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding with custard for dessert.

Tony, 49, said: "I think we are the cheapest in the country. We are expecting a roaring trade.

"People think that they are going to get small portions, but we give them good, homemade food, that are big portions."

The family-run pub introduced the cheap as chips Christmas lunch last year in a bid to beat the credit crunch and get people through the doors. It was so successful with customers they have decided to bring it back. "With the credit crunch people are cancelling Christmas office parties but we have still got them coming to us. It gets the pub busy," added Tony, who runs the pub with wife Kay.

Over the Christmas season the pub also will be offering a £10 festive menu. The pub, which also sells food for £1, recently slashed its prices even further to just 50p a meal.

It launched a two-for-one offer on its £1 credit crunch busting menu.
