Residents were left without water for most of yesterday.
Emergency powers were used by officials at Dudley Council yesterday to shut off a section of the water supply in Bowling Green Road.
Water had leaked into the cellar of a ground floor flat situated at the junction of Swan Street when a main pipe burst during the morning. Workers from Severn Trent Water were called in to repair the broken pipework.
Dudley Council's group engineer for traffic and road safety, Peter Vangeersdaele said the repair work could go on for five days.
But Severn Trent spokeswomen Sophie Jordan said water supplies in the street were back to normal last night.
