A Black Country church stalwart has died after being knocked down by a car on his way to the shops.
John Challinor was knocked over by a red Honda Civic close to the Londis store by the junction of Norton Road and Highfield Road, Pelsall, at around 4.09pm yesterday. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead soon after.
The 80-year-old of Wolverhampton Road, Pelsall, was a long-serving member of St Michael's Church, Hall Lane. Witnesses should call 0845 113 5000.
