A Stourport school's new minibus has had its wheels stolen, leaving children heartbroken and the school hundreds of pounds out of pocket.

Staff say the theft at Bartholomew's Primary School, in Princess Way, has caused major disruption.

After-school trips have had to be cancelled or last-minute coaches booked instead - all at a cost to the school. A meals service provided by St Batholomew's to other schools in the area has also been disrupted.

The minibus' main function during the daytime is to transport the food to schools in Astley, Great Witley and Habberley.

Taxis have had to be used to ferry the food while the minibus, delivered just two weeks ago, is out of action.

The vehicle is leased from Worcestershire County Council so the wheels have now been replaced - but it has had to be taken away for safety checks.

Thieves struck on Friday at around 8.10pm.
