A hand grenade was discovered on the roof of an Oldbury home, police said today.
Builders discovered the weapon, thought to date back to the Second World War, on top of the home in Moat Road at 9.40am on Saturday.
Nearby homes were sealed off and builders working on the property told to wait at a safe distance, while the device was examined by bomb disposal experts.
A police cordon was set up on Moat Road at junctions with Pound Road and Hancox Street.
Zoe Lee, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "A cordon was set up and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team called as a precaution. It confirmed the grenade was not live."
