An attacker jumped out of bushes and hit his victim over the head during an ambush in Kidderminster town centre.

The victim, aged in his 30s, suffered minor injuries to his face and was left shaken after the attack.

He was walking along an alleyway leading from Worcester Road towards Hoo Road at around 8pm on Tuesday.

The attacker is believed to have used a large piece of wood to attack the victim before running off.

Police today said they needed information from members of the public as they only had a very sketchy description of the attacker.

They also confirmed no motive had yet been established for the attack.

Pc Jordan Baker urged anyone who saw what had happened to ring 0300 333 3000 (quoting 636-S-031109) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
