A 39-year-old woman has been found dead on a Midland railway line just three days after her father was killed on the same stretch of track.

British Transport Police said the deaths of Colleen O'Connor and 64-year-old Barney O'Connor in Kidderminster, are not being treated as suspicious.

The apparent suicides happened near Husum Way, on the eastern outskirts of Kidderminster.

Mr O'Connor, from Hill Street, Halesowen, died after being struck by a train at about 6.30pm on Thursday.

Miss O'Connor, of Poole, Dorset, was found dead at the same location at about 8.30pm on Sunday.

The BTP spokesman said: "Neither death is being treated as suspicious and inquests have been opened and adjourned at Redditch Coroners' Court.

"The thoughts of British Transport Police are with the family at this very difficult time."

In a statement issued by BTP, family members said both Mr and Miss O'Connor would be sadly missed. The statement read: "We have been devastated by this double tragedy and the family is rallying round to support each other."
