A public address system at a Black Country rail station is still blaring out instructions despite there being no trains until next May.

Residents have been complaining to station owner London Midland about the noise at Tipton station which closed for a £2.5m refurbishment on September 14.

Despite no trains stopping there en route to Walsall automated announcements are still warning people to stand behind the yellow lines.

Malcolm Jones, who lives in nearby Stella Road, says that residents are having to put up with announcements blaring from at the station from 6.10am until 10.30pm in the evening.

Matt Hurst, spokesman for London Midland, said: "We need to keep the public address system on in order to let people who come to the station know it is closed."

He added that the annoucements about trains would stop.
