Singing Smiths hope to hit the No.1 spot
D'Votion will be flying the flag for the Midlands in the final of GMTV's hunt for Britain's No. 1 Family this week.
If they win, the family singing group, made up of siblings Paul, Jon, Julia and Charles Smith, from Cheslyn Hay, South Staffordshire, get a four album record deal with Universal Records and the opportunity to go head to head with the winner of X Factor for the Christmas number one single.
They impressed GMTV's celebrity judging panel, made up of Coleen and Bernie Nolan, celebrity manager Jonathan Shalit and Universal's Jordan Jay, to beat more than 900 acts across the UK.
There are five groups in the final and one will be featured on the show each day this week before the final vote on Friday morning.
Paul, aged 30, Jon, 29, Julia, 28, and Charles, 23, will be performing their version of Oh Come All Ye Faithful, chosen for them by Universal, on Thursday's show.
Manager and lead singer Paul said: "We are all absolutely over the moon.
"This is just such an amazing opportunity and we are all totally focused and determined to give the best performance possible next week.
"It's really bought the family together and we want to make 2009 our year.
"We are the only Midlands band left in the competition, up against four London acts, so we want local people to get behind us and vote for us.
"It is great to put a small village like Cheslyn Hay on the map."
The group has sung together all their lives having all been members of the choir run by their father, Pastor Jacob Smith, at his church, Bethel United Apostolic Church in Low Hill, Wolverhampton.
They also made it through to the final pre-boot camp stage on last year's X Factor, but narrowly missed out on going further.
