£12,500 raised in tribute to Emily
A charity concert has raised up to £12,500 for a foundation set up in memory of a Wyre Forest law graduate who died while riverboarding in New Zealand.
More than 450 people turned out for the glitzy bash at Kidderminster Town Hall for the Emily Jordan Foundation.
Emily, from Trimpley, near Bewdley, drowned after becoming trapped under water by rocks in the Kawarau Gorge last year.
The Night on Broadway was held to bring in cash for the foundation set up in the 21-year-old's name.
Emily's parents Chris and Sarah Jordan attended the Saturday event and delivered a speech on stage thanking everyone for raising money for the foundation they set up following their daughter's death.
An array of lots, including lunch at the House of Lords and House of Commons and a cricket bat signed by the victorious England team, went under the hammer during the evening.
Guest auctioneer for the sale was Lord Digby Jones, the former director of the CBI and trade minster, fresh from speaking at the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh, USA.
Former G4 singing star Michael Christie was top of the bill at the event.
Organiser Chris Dunn, aged 56, and his wife Jane, of Wolverley, said: "We had known Emily and the Jordan family for a few years and we decided to ask them if they would like this year's event to raise money for the foundation which they agreed to.
"It was a vibrant celebration and the atmosphere was so jolly throughout. We are so pleased with the amount that has been raised."
