Tipton train station closed today for an £2.5million eight-month refurbishment.

The station is closed until next May as work is carried out to extend platforms and refurbish the station.

Services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham will still pass through Tipton station but will not stop.

Instead passengers will have to take replacement bus services to Coseley.

The work will allow longer trains to use the station, those with six carriages rather than four as it is now.
