Buses will be taking over the Severn Valley Railway for the first time when it holds a rally event this Sunday.

More than 30 buses including the fondly-remembered Midland Red double-deckers will be parked at Bewdley station.

It is the first event of its kind to be organised by the heritage railway.

SVR Bus Rally co-ordinator Barry Moreton: "If it proves to be popular, then it's quite likely that a bus gala will become part of our annual calendar."

Bewdley station yard will host a selection of buses, including a 1955 touring coach once in service with Whittles, the Kidderminster coach company now owned by Bewdley resident Bernard Rogers.

Car parking is at Bewdley School and a vintage single-decker Bedford Duple bus will run a free shuttle service to Bewdley station.
