Plans for a health farm on land in the Wyre Forest were opposed by parish councillors after more than 200 villagers objected.

Owners of Sugars Farm, at Rock, near Kidderminster, want to create a retreat offering relaxation, yoga and dance therapy as well as overnight accommodation in 10 chalets.

People living nearby formed a protest group fearing increased traffic on narrow roads and a precedent being set for further developments.

Rock Parish Council last night voted against plans after receiving a petition signed by more than 200.

Protest group spokesman John Parkes said: "The planned development was viewed as a further assault on the natural landscape and the wildlife to be found around the forest."

The council will pass recommendations to Wyre Forest District Council which makes the final decision about the plans.
