A Wyre Forest councillor has been suspended from her political group after being charged with drink driving.

Conservative councillor Sue Meekings, who represents the Oldington and Foley Park ward, is charged with drink driving on August 15.

She is due before magistrates in Kidderminster on Thursday and has been suspended from the Conservative Group on Wyre Forest District Council until further notice.

Meekings, of The Croft, Kidderminster, denies the allegations.

Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, Councillor John Campion, said: "Following an allegation of drink driving, councillor Sue Meekings has been suspended from the Conservative Group on Wyre Forest District Council whilst the legal process takes its course. Councillor Meekings denies the allegations made against her and expects to be cleared by the court process."

The councillor said she could not comment on the allegations against her until the court case had concluded.
