A motorcyclist has died after crashing into a lamp post on a road in Kingswinford. The man, who has not been identified, was declared dead at the scene.

The 40-year-old was riding his bike in Burrows Road, Kingswinford, when the accident happened.

An incident support officer and two ambulances were called to the road at around 11.15 last night.

They carried out an emergency assessment of the man but nothing could be done to save him.

An investigation has now been launched by police.

Officers are trying to piece together what happened and are asking for anyone with information to come forward. And they said the identity of the motorcyclist was not being revealed at this stage.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is urged to call the road policing unit at Halesowen police station on 0845 113 5000.

It is the second fatal motorcycle crash in Dudley borough within days.

Andre Williamson, a 30-year-old father-of-four and his partner 22-year-old Andrene Smith, of Wolverhampton, died after their bike collided with a car on Birmingham New Road, Coseley, last week. A roadside shrine was set up in their memory.
