Shaun Michael Jones, 24, of Clee Road, Northfield, Birmingham, today pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Jermaine Gidden, 26, of Littlehill Way, South Woodgate, Birmingham, pictured, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice after he hid the car keys in a washing machine to try and hide their involvement. He was jailed for two months.
Mr Richard Atkins, prosecuting, said police had been patrolling near Sandyacre Way on May 4th at around 1.30am following a spate of car burglaries in the area. They attended a report of a car being broken into in Stourbridge. An unmarked police car was sent to the area where police saw three men getting into a Subaru car in Sandyacre Way.
Pc David Biggs got out of one of the un-marked cars and ran towards the Subaru.
Mr Atkins said: "The driver, Jones, moved his car and mounted the pavement and in doing so hit the police officer, David Biggs."
Mr Graham Henderson, defending Jones, said: "He is sorry that the officer was hit, he was sorry the officer was hurt, he panicked."
