New railway recruits

The Severn Valley Railway has taken on four new engineers to help with backlog of steam locomotives needing repairs.

Bosses at the heritage railway say it will improve the turn-round time of trains, especially at busy weekends like bank holidays. The appointments are Duncan Ballard, of Kidderminster, as contract boiler foreman, Paul Ashmore, of Highley, as a junior boilermsith, and fitters David Insull, of Stourport, and Allister Mallett, of Much Wenlock.
