Fire ripped through a family-run dry cleaners today, destroying clothes and causing thousands of pounds of damage.

The blaze at Easyclean in Uplands Road, Willenhall, broke out at around 4am.

Two fire engines from Bilston were called to the shop after the blaze started at the back of the premises.

The smoke then spread, causing more damage upstairs.

Presses have been destroyed along with all electrics.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The dry cleaners has been operating for more than 25 years and it is not clear when it will be open to fully re-open. Five people are employed at the shop which is regularly used by people living in the area. Shop owner Charan Thiara said: "I am devastated by what has happened.

"We have worked hard over the years to build it up and is a family-run business," he said.

"We want to get it running again as soon as possible. It is too early to say how much damage has been caused."

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze and nobody was inside the property at the time.
