Garage site may get flats

A disused garage site may be transformed into a 45-apartment complex for retired people in Stourport.

Under plans sent to Wyre Forest Council, land at the former Shell garage in Vale Road would be redeveloped.

Plans by Hampshire-based Churchill Retirement Living, include a communal lounge, laundry, guest suite and gardens as well as 13 parking spaces.

The lounge would be used by residents and guests for coffee mornings, special events and residents meetings as well as individual activities.

The firm says that accommodation is specially designed to meet the needs of independent retired people with self-contained apartments for sale in a single block.

A consultation period will run until August 20 and the plans will be considered by the council's planning committee.
