A man suffered head injuries when he was knocked down by a taxi after he tried to flag it down in Stourport.

The victim, in his 20s and from Kidderminster, was thought to have been hailing the cab in the middle of the road when he was hurt in the hit-and-run collision.

He was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital but was later discharged.

The taxi, which did not stop at the scene, is thought to be a silver saloon-type vehicle and was possibly carrying four female passengers. The collision happened at 2.30pm on Sunday.

West Mercia Police spokesman Dylan Evans said: "We would urge the driver of the taxi to come forward as soon as possible and we would also like to hear from the female occupants of the taxi, as they may be key witnesses."

Anyone with information about the identity of the taxi driver should call Stourport police on 0300 333 3000.
