Mystery leakage repaired at forge
Britain's last surviving water-powered plating forge, near Kidderminster, will reopen this weekend after repairs to a mystery leak.
Britain's last surviving water-powered plating forge, near Kidderminster, will reopen this weekend after repairs to a mystery leak.
The problem at Churchill Forge, on Ganlow brook, between Stourbridge Road and Birmingham Road, Churchill, put the site's larger waterwheel out of action in July.
Repairs have now been completed and the forge will reopen to the public as planned on Sunday.
Dr Paul Collins, of the forge trustees, said: "The mysterious leak which was at the heart of the problems has been plugged and we are all grateful to those whose skill and hard work identified the source of the leak and closed it.
"From this month visitors will be able once again to experience the awesome sight of the forge's waterwheel."
