Swinder Singh Batth died of a single gunshot wound to the chest outside Gavin's Sports Bar early on Tuesday.

A 25-year-old man from West Bromwich was arrested today and a 24-year-old Perry Barr man was arrested last night. Both were taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have also been granted extra time to question three men and a woman – aged 21, 21, 22 and 19 respectively – who were arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday.

A 23-year-old man who was also arrested on Tuesday was today bailed pending further inquiries. A 24-year-old man who was arrested yesterday remains in police custody today.

All those in custody are being interviewed by detectives from the Major Investigation Unit. A post mortem carried out last night confirmed that Mr Batth, of Hughes Road, Moxley, died from a single gunshot to the chest.

The 47-year-old ran the bar in The Orchard with his 18-year-old son Gavin.

Det Ch Insp Joanne Clews said today: "Anyone who was in Gavin's Sports Bar on Monday evening, or who knows something that could help this investigation, is urged to come forward.

"We are working extremely closely with the community, and we are grateful to those who have helped us so far.

"It doesn't matter how trivial or small you feel your information may be – it could be of the utmost importance to the investigation.

"If someone has information and is worried about coming forward, please be assured that there are a number of ways in which we can help."

It is believed that Mr Batth intervened in a dispute outside the bar and that he died in his son's arms. He was confirmed dead at hospital.

As well as Gavin, Mr Batth had three daughters – Danny, 20, Jinder, 21, and four-year-old Perina. He was married to Palwinder.

Daughter Danny told the Express & Star: "He was a very loving, caring man who was so generous to all his family. We all loved him so much.."
