The company whose recycling plant was destroyed in an arson attack is being wound up, the Express & Star can reveal today.

A petition to wind up AWM Group has been put forward by Staffordshire firm JBM International Ltd.

Around 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at AWM Recycling, in Western Way, Moxley, on Wednesday.

Police are hunting four people seen around the site on the Newman Industrial Estate shortly before the blaze broke out at 4am.

It has emerged AWM's Coseley base had been repossessed a week before the attack. It also has a site in Horseley Fields, Wolverhampton, which remains open.

Notice of the petition was published in the London Gazette yesterday. Creditors are invited to attend a meeting at Birmingham District Registry on September 3.

Managing director of AWM Group Tom Smith has been unavailable for comment, but process manager Simon Johnson said he was not aware of any financial difficulties.
