£8,000 reward on pensioner

The devastated family of a missing Sandwell pensioner today offered an £8,000 reward to help track her down.

Margaret Elliott, aged 75, has been missing for nearly three weeks after leaving her home in Barnford Crescent, Oldbury, in the early hours of June 28.

The former Causeway Green Primary School teacher, who worked there for more than 40 years, was last seen on Windsor Road in the town on the morning she disappeared. Mrs Elliott suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and did not have her medication with her.

Today her son James and daughter Kate, alongside chief police officers, launched a fresh appeal for information leading to her whereabouts.

Their new appeal follows a decision by police earlier this week to call off the search and rely only on new information from witnesses after all leads were exhausted.

Hundreds of people including her former pupils joined a search last weekend.

Son James, aged 33, said: "We are desperate to get her back and anything is worth a try. If somebody does see her we'd ask them to contact the police immediately and to keep her in sight until the police arrive".

Mrs Elliott is white, of slim build, 5ft 5ins with short white hair. She was wearing a beige cardigan and carrying a black handbag. Call police on 0845 1135000.
