Beer drinkers can look forward to a real ale festival in a South Staffordshire village this weekend.

The annual Bishops Wood Beer Festival is in its third year and runs from Friday until Sunday at the village hall in Ivetsy Bank Road.

Around 30 real ales sourced from local breweries will be on offer, along with ciders as well as wines from Halfpenny Green Vineyard.

The event is being hosted by the Bishops Wood village hall committee.

Committee member and Bishops Wood resident Andrea McManus, aged 34, added the festival would raise money for the community.

She said: "We hold the beer festival annually to raise funds for the village hall, which is a registered charity.

"We are currently having an extension so any money raised will contribute towards that."

This year's festival is being combined with national campaign The Big Lunch, which residents can enjoy from 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.

Andrea, who lives in Old Weston Road, added: "So far the festivals have always been very successful events.

"It's the one event held in the village where most of the community comes out in support.

"We also try and support local produce."

Shropshire country and rock band Ebenezer Weazel will open the festival tomorrow from 7pm.
