The Renault Megane came off the road in Rookery Road, Coseley, knocked down walls and ploughed through flowerbeds before hitting the porch of one house.

Owners of the two properties were not in when it happened at about 8.20pm on Saturday. Police said the male driver only had minor injuries and had not gone to hospital.

Officers would not confirm whether any arrests had been made. The owner of the property with the damaged porch, who would only give his name as Brian, said: "It was so luckily no one was in at the time," he said. "The police have not been much help and have just told me I've got to sort the mess out myself which is not good considering I'm trying to sell the house.

"Its going to mean a lot of hassle as it's not just the porch that need repair it's the the wall as well. My neighbour was not there and she is going to get a shock when she comes back." He said repairs to his porch could cost up to £5,000. Resident Paul Ratcliffe emailed the Express & Star photographs of the crash.

He said: "This is not the first time such an accident has happened in this street. The council simply does not want to know about traffic calming measures despite several accidents in as many years. It's the same old story until there is a fatality – they will remain asleep."
