The prestigious Grand Slam of Darts will be held at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall for the next three years, it was announced today.

The venue won a much sought-after contract to host the tournament until 2012.

The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) confirmed the move today.

The games, which start in November, will be screened live on ITV Sport.

They are expected to bring in £400,000 in ticket sales and bar takings a year. The Civic has previously hosted the event in 2007 and 2008 which proved to be a success.

Civic spokesman Jonn Penney said: "It's obviously great news. We are all really chuffed because it gets us all over the TV and brings in lots of people to the city. Last year's event had a huge effect on hotels in Wolverhampton, we're expecting them to be rammed again this year.

"People come from all over the world to watch. Now that we've got a deal it means we don't have to battle with other venues."
