Percy's Plonkers send fans bonkers
Fast food fans reckon a hot dog stall has the tastiest Black Country takeaways.
Percy Plonkers hot dog stand – serving jumbo sausages for 12 years at Hollybush Garden Centre, Warstone Road, near Cannock – was voted best takeaway in a poll.
Rob Green, aged 28, who has been serving at the stand since he was 16, said: "It's not just people coming in and out of the garden centre that come to us.
"At the weekend we had a bloke zoom up on a motorbike and order 16 hot dogs – he was taking them back to a beer garden in Bloxwich.
"We regularly get people driving up with their trays and tupperware boxes to take sausages away."
Mr Green, managing director of Percy Plonkers wholesale business, reckoned the biggest hot dog on offer – Percy's Big 'Un – was a perennial favourite.
He said: "It's a very big sausage. You're certainly full up when you've eaten one of those."
Mr Green, originally of Tipton, added the Percy Plonkers team was thrilled with the accolade.
He said: "It means an enormous amount. This was voted for by the public and it's their opinion that counts."
