Families step out at castle for charity walk
Youngsters put their best foot forward as they flocked to Dudley Zoo and Castle for the Barnardo's Big Toddle.
Children and their parents strutted their stuff to raise cash for the national children charity's 13th annual event across the country.
And the picturesque courtyard of the 11th century castle was the starting point for yesterday's walk, which was also being staged at the venue today.
Among those walking laps were Barry and Dawn Charters, aged 33 and 34, and their two-year-old daughter Emma, from Sheila Avenue, Wednesfield. Mr Charters said: "It is a wonderful day out and we couldn't have hoped for better weather."
Trainee Midwife Tracey Perkins, 29, from Bentley, in Walsall, joined the throngs to walk with her one-year-old son Jimmy. "Its the first time that we have done the walk," she said.
Barnardo's media manager, Jacqueline Woodward, said: "Around 7-900 people have come down and more than 3,000 parents and kids have signed up."
More than £50,000 has been raised from the event since it began at the Zoo in 1997. Two walks are scheduled for June 10 and 11. Call 01384 215313 or visit www.dudleyzoo.org.uk
