A 16-year-old boy suffered head injuries after plunging into Trimpley reservoir, near Kidderminster.

The youth was treated for his injuries at Kidderminster Hospital and was later allowed home but the drama has prompted police and water officials to warn of the dangers of swimming in quarries, reservoirs, lakes and rivers.

He was among about 20 youths jumping from a bridge to swim in the reservoir yesterday afternoon

West Mercia Police today issued warnings about the dangers involved with swimming in "unauthorised and unsupervised water" after further reports of people swimming in the River Severn at Severn Side South, Bewdley.
